Clayton County Convention & Visitors Bureau Hosts Week-Long Media
Tour
The Clayton County Convention & Visitors Bureau hosted a week-long media
tour on October 21-24.
A media tour is simply a method for taking your message to a variety of communication
outlets without purchasing traditional advertising. The tour entitled “The
Spirit of the South- The Winds of Change” showcased all historical assets
as well as new features Clayton County has to offer. It helped create exposure
for all local hospitality assets.
The venues selected to participate in the media tour were Spivey Hall at Clayton
State University, Arts Clayton Gallery, Road to Tara Museum and Southern Belles & Whistles
Tour, Pinehurst Tea Room, Georgia Archives, National Archives SE, The Feed Store,
Truett’s Grill, Reynolds Nature Preserve, Atlanta State Farmers Market
and Stately Oaks Plantation. The host hotel was the Comfort Suites in Stockbridge.
“Clayton County has a good story to tell and we gave these 12 travel
writers a taste of our area, an opportunity to experience the diversity of tourism
products we have, a glimpse into our history and heritage and a chance to not
just hear about it, but to experience it,” said Patrick Duncan, president
of the Clayton County CVB. “Members of the hospitality community really
stepped up and hosted these writers with a flair of Southern hospitality while
they were here and I appreciate that we were able to show these writers who we
are and who we were.”
The eleven travel writers were hand-picked to tour Clayton County, its attractions,
restaurants and overnight accommodations. These eleven media were from Florida,
South Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Nebraska, North Carolina and Illinois and
represented mediums from across the United States. The media they represented
were newspapers, magazines, internet sites, and radio shows and their stories
will be coming out at different times throughout the next year.
“I believe we left them with fond and lasting memories of Clayton County
and our surrounding area,” added Duncan. “The stories they are writing
and publishing are a reflection of the positive impression we left on their minds.”
If anyone would like to view copies of the resulting stories, log onto www.visitscarlett.com.
All stories will be posted under the press section of the site as soon as the
CVB receives them.
The Clayton County Convention & Visitors Bureau is the official tourism marketing
agency for Clayton County. The CVB advertises and promotes the area to bring
business to hotels, attractions, historical sites and meeting facilities within
Clayton County and its neighboring communities.
