With strong leadership from the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), the newly formed Wedding Alliance of North Georgia (WANG) held its first meeting on April 16 at the Mansell House and Gardens. The primary goal of WANG is to provide individuals planning weddings and social events access to North Georgia’s finest wedding services. Thirty people—representing a variety of wedding specialties—from florists to event planners to hoteliers—attended the meeting. Industry specialists participating in WANG hope to cooperatively refer to one another the business generated by the hundreds of weddings and social events taking place in the north Georgia area on an annual basis.
“The formation of WANG was spearheaded by the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau in an effort to better utilize the resources readily available to brides in the North Georgia area,” said President and CEO of the Alpharetta CVB, Janet Rodgers. “There are plenty of wedding alliances in the metropolitan area, but we want to provide brides getting married in our city with access to amenities and planning services right here.”
All twenty-three Alpharetta hotels are invited to participate in WANG. At the first meeting, a representative from the Alpharetta Welcome Center spoke about the complimentary group services provided by the Alpharetta CVB and Welcome Center and all other attendees were also given an opportunity to speak about their services.
The group will meet once a quarter and plans for a wedding expo, to be held at the Mansell House in the fall, are underway.
