Join Union City for Movies by Moonlight at Ronald Bridges Park on August 21st where we will be showing The Blind Side featuring Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock and Michael Oher, an offensive lineman who plays for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL.  The film follows Oher from his impoverished upbringing, through his years in the suburbs, his adoption, and on to his position as one of the most highly coveted prospects in college football.  Gates will open at 7:30 p.m. with the movie showing at 9:00 p.m. to allow participants to bring in their lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets.

Runners are invited to the 4th Annual Jackson Healthcare/PAL 5K Challenge on August 26 at 7:00 p.m., with all proceeds benefiting PAL. The events include a 5K Run/Walk and a CEO Challenge. There will be a Family Health Fair, Kids Moon Walk, and a complimentary Pasta Dinner for all sponsors and runners. Alpharetta PAL is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which offers a boxing program, an after school program, guitar lessons, homework/tutoring assistance, summer camps and a mentoring program.

Lawrenceville hosts Grammy- nominated singer/songwriter Shawn Mullins for his 6th return to Lawrenceville's Moonlight & Music Concert Series! Atlanta-based artist Shawn Mullins is a multi-instrumentalist who plays over 200 gigs per year. His well-known song "Lullaby" reached #1 on the national pop chart and more recently his song "Beautiful Wreck" has reached number one on both the AAA and Americana Radio. The concerts and lawn seating are free to the public, BUT tables for six can be rented starting at $65 by contacting the Lawrenceville Visitors Center at 678.226.2639. 

Sandy Springs Festival

The Festival has grown from a small picnic to a major event drawing over 20,000 attendees and was voted "Best Festival" on Access Atlanta's "Best of the Big A."  The Sandy Springs Festival is the primary fundraiser for Heritage Sandy Springs, a non-profit organization dedicated to building community through preserving and promoting the historic and cultural identity of Sandy Springs. Features of the Festival include the Doug Kessler Lightning 5K/10K race, a juried Artist's Market, Business and Civic Expo, a Children's Park, Collector's Car Show, Kiwanis Pet Parade, Heritage Crafters, Live Entertainment, Food Court, Whole Foods Heritage Homegrown Market, Saint Joseph's Hospital Health & Wellness Area, and more. Festival hours: 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.  Adults (age 18+) may purchase a single day pass for $5 and a two-day pass for $7.  Youth (ages 6-17) may attend a single day for $2 and two days for $3. Heritage Sandy Springs members receive free passes and children age 5 and under get in free.
