10-22-08 Comic Jeff Foxworthy Lends His Support to Friend John Smoltz

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 22, 2008
Comic Jeff Foxworthy Lends His Support to Friend John Smoltz

Jeff Foxworthy is bringing home his southern style humor in a live stand-up show that will be sure to lift
the spirits of all in the audience. He has been a little busy of late commuting back and forth to Los Angeles to tape his FOX –TV runaway hit game show, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? Even our own State Secretary of Education, Kathy Cox, went away the first winner of $1,000,000, which thrilled Georgia native and public school veteran, Jeff Foxworthy.

“I couldn’t believe that she brought my permanent record. It had a description of me getting caught mooning people from the football bus!” says Foxworthy. “Can you believe they keep those kinds of records?”

Of course, she donated all of the proceeds of her successful run on the show, which is something that Jeff
is planning to do for his good friend, veteran Braves pitcher John Smoltz. Together, they will bring a lot of much-needed humor to the North side on Sunday, Nov. 9 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park. An Evening with Smoltz, Foxworthy & Friends is a charity fundraiser to benefit The John Smoltz Foundation, which reaches several local non-profits in the Atlanta community.

Turner Broadcasting announcer, Ernie Johnson, Jr. is emceeing the evening, which includes a set of country/rock vocals performed by Universal South recording artist, Angela Wolff. Jeff and John will be joined on stage by several of John’s fellow Braves, including Tom Glavine, Jeff Francoeur, Brian McCann and more. You can expect some unscripted fun as they share candid conversation reflecting on their lives in and out of the public eye.

“This may even turn into a roast” worries John. “You just never know what to expect from these guys!” You can be sure that all of this banter, followed by the live comedy show that Jeff Foxworthy plans to deliver, will be just what the doctor ordered. We could all use a laugh about now, and this event promises to hit all the bases!
